The season is winding down, and we’re looking back at one of the highlights from its opening weeks — Ralph Scherder fishing the Aluminé River in Northern Patagonia with our own Gustavo. Ralph is a fly fishing guide, writer, and founder of Dark Skies Fly Fishing based in Pennsylvania, and this wasn’t his first time on these rivers. He keeps coming back — and around here, that’s how friendships are made.
Patagonia has been on every serious fly fisher’s bucket list for decades. What still surprises people — and what Ralph captures perfectly in this short testimonial — is that the place delivers the same sense of awe it did 60 years ago. The rivers are just as pristine, the fish just as wild. That doesn’t happen by accident, and it never gets old.
We’ll see you back next season, Ralph.
