SET's Golden Dorado Experience

Multiple Golden Dorado destinations
for the best fishing experience.

Golden Dorado are native to the tropics of South America and can be found in a variety of environments such as Marshs, Lagoons, Streams and in rivers of different sizes. Each environment offer unique fly fishing experiences due to the conditions that reign.

At Set fly fishing we manage three different golden dorado lodges and each offers a different and unique experience
Our Golden Dorado Experience offers guests the unique opportunity combine two or three completely different destinations in just one week.

How to Combine the destinations

Our Golden Dorado program allows you to combine two totally different environments, in just one week.
You will enjoy 3 full days of fishing at each lodge connecting the destinations with short charter flights, without loosing time, fast and easy.
You can also opt for a 10 day program combinning the 3 destinations, the Golden Dorado Triflecta.
Our priority is to always provide the best fishing experience possible under current conditions, and using charter flights as part of the program provides fast and easy access to these different waters, connecting the diferent lodges.

The lodge accommodations, all staff and guides, food and drink were first-rate – couldn’t be better. You accommodated those in our group who had health issues arise – much appreciated. Wildlife in marsh was astounding. Nothing you could do about the weather, which clearly slowed up the fishing in the marsh. The style of fishing on the Parana was a bit surprising, but quite enjoyable with casting targets galore and excellent boat control.

The marsh was incredible. Really made great because of the weather and the fishing. The guides were fantastic and the food was awesome. The river was tough fishing – but again, weather dependent. I enjoyed my time and grateful that our group all caught dorado’s and we were able to celebrate together.

I’ve enjoyed watching these incredible fish as they live, feed, and survive, in various types of fisheries and waterways. But only a few times in all of these years, and only in the farthest reaches of the Upper Parana River, was I lucky enough to witness the unparalleled drama of the Dorado spawning.

The primary prey fish of the Golden Dorado is the Sabalo, a medium sized schooling fish that often weighs between 3 and 5 pounds, which requires a bit of strategy along with opportunity.

These adventures are commonly reviewed as the highlight of the trip and more often we have requests from repeat anglers to do more adventure venues, which has been the motor for us to constantly seek for the next one to find.
