Estancia Chochoy Mallin
The COVID-19 pandemic brought our first season at Estancia Chochoy Mallin to a sudden end, but it was nevertheless a great success.
The historic Estancia Chochoy Mallin in northern Neuquén Province is more than a century old, and is nestled beneath the stunning Dumoyo Volcano, the highest peak in Patagonia. The lodge offers anglers a great variety of fishing options, including a beautiful spring creek that flows through the vast and scenic property. Northern Neuquén Province has remained largely untouched by anglers due to its remoteness, so there are numerous pristine rivers and creeks yet to be explored. During our scouting, we have found healthy populations of wild brown and rainbow trout, many of which have never seen a fly. These fish are a unique, powerful strain of trout fueled by ample food, making them the strongest and feistiest trout we have ever encountered. We promise that you will never forget the thrill of fighting them in the area’s fast, high gradient streams.
It’s no surprise that northern Neuquén Province has become one of the most requested destinations among our guests. For this reason, we are excited to share with you the news of our new partnership with Chochoy Mallin. In a joint venture, we are finishing the construction of a brand new lodge that will be part of the historic estancia. The lodge will feature four spacious rooms and provide our guests with the comfortable setting that this special destination deserves.
Chochoy Mallin is truly the last frontier of fly fishing in Patagonia. The area is breathtakingly beautiful and features many picturesque streams to walk and wade. We continue to explore local small streams and some high altitude lakes, adding more fishing options and incredible scenery to the menu.
Check out this video to see some of the fishing and scenery that the area offers.
Stay tuned, we have big news coming soon about the 2022 season at Chochoy Mallin Lodge. Check a couple of trailers as a hint of how our programs will be planned
