Is the largest freestone we walk and wade in the area, very similar to the famous Malleo river. It starts as the natural outflow of Lake Quillen deep in the Lanin National Park in the core of the Andes mountains. Not very far from the beginning happens the junction with its major tributary, Malalco Spring Creek (another very special spring creek we ke to fish). Is a very scenic beautiful river with very distinctive features along its 20 miles until the confluence with the Alumine River.
On the Quillen River, we fish various river sections with multiple runs, others of fast water around boulders, foam lines along flats, riffles along cutbanks, softs drop offs after riffles. It’s a very fun river to explore targeting rainbows and browns in the range of 14 to 20 inches. Great dry fly fishing, large terrestrial imitations and even matching hatch to rising fish during mornings when mayflies and caddis are present; and even some times, on early evenings we can encounter a hatch that produces great surface action.
Beside all this listed waters we fish, we frequently visit many other small creeks and spring creeks tributaries of the large rivers and lakes that we want to keep under the radar!
