Golden Dorado: 3 Lodges 3 Experiences

The Golden Dorado Experience by SET Fly Fishing was recently completed with the addition of a third lodge, Jetu’u Cabañas de Esteros. But given that the lodges are all within a 55-minute flight of each other, some might wonder how different the fishing can be since they all target the mighty Golden Dorado.

In fact, all of the lodges exist within the heart of the region where Golden Dorado thrive as a species. Composing the Golden Dorado Experience has been the result of years of exploration in the area, and concluded with offering three fishing opportunities, distinct from one another but complimenting the overall experience. These locations are somewhat connected, but the water conditions and features are dramatically different; as is the average size of the Dorado, typical number of strikes, techniques used, and the behavior of the fish. The three options afford a wonderful experience for a broad range of anglers with varying skills and expectations, from a day with constant action on small to medium-sized Golden Dorados, to hunting for the trophy of a lifetime.

We have invested in the properties and lodges to provide a world-class experience for our guests, in locations that are convenient to the fisheries. Each location has its own unique style and character, but all offer the same premium service and hospitality that SET Fly Fishing has been known for over the years.

Itati Lodge and Jetu’u Cabañas de Esteros, are walking distance to the water and minutes away from the best fishing spots. La Alondra lodge is just 20 minutes from the wetlands with access to three uniquely engineered platform camps, reachable only by water, spread out over the huge nature reserve and enveloped by an intricate system of channels and lagoons. You will never see another human besides us.
